UNITED WAY OF WASHINGTON COUNTY KICKS OFF 2014 CAMPAIGN

United Way of Washington County announced the start of their annual fundraising campaign today, urging that “Change Won’t Happen Without You.”

The United Way of Washington County invites area residents and employers to invest in local programs that produce significant and measurable change. The funds raised will be distributed to 17 local agencies for 20 health and human service programs. These programs were selected based on their alignment to the United Way’s three focus areas: Education, Income, and Health. The funds will also support three Strategic Partners, including the United Way Resource Center in Hartford.

This year’s campaign is led by Ted Neitzke, Superintendent of West Bend School District, and Doug Ziegler, long-standing community philanthropist.

“Ted and Doug are exceptional leaders, and we are excited to have a multi-generation team at the helm,” said Kristin Brandner, Executive Director of United Way of Washington County. “It is critical that we expand our base and appeal to the next generation of volunteers and donors while also recognizing our many long-standing donors. Both Ted and Doug know how to inspire and motivate people. They will be a highly effective dynamic duo in mobilizing the community to help improve lives and community conditions.”

The campaign raised $1,234,016 last year, a record-breaking total for this community. The 2014 goal is $1,300,000. The additional funds will continue to support local programs, as well as a new root-cause initiative on employment in Washington County.

The campaign runs until December 31. Donors are encouraged to consider increasing their gift this year. Several incentives are being offered, including the chance to win an 11-Day Cruise and Tour of Alaska.
