Day of Action

Question. Persuade. Refer.

Join United Way of Washington County Emerging Leaders at its first-ever Day of Action on Tuesday, June 10. Our special guests from Riveredge Nature Center will lead us through a suicide prevention training called QPR that will equip participants with the tools to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to respond effectively.

Much like CPR for physical emergencies, QPR provides an effective emergency response to mental health crises that anyone can learn.

In this evidence-based training, you’ll learn how to:

Question someone about suicidal thoughts
Persuade them to seek help, and
Refer them to appropriate resources.

It’s simple, powerful, and can help save a life.

Time in nature and mental health are closely linked, which is why Riveredge Nature Center is committed to helping people learn these specific, immediately applicable life-saving skills while experiencing the benefits of spending time outside.

Becoming QPR trained is a positive way to take action in light of the mental health crisis that exists in our communities. The 45-minute training will be followed by an optional 30-minute nature walk to practice coping skills and benefit from the healing impact of time outdoors.
