UNITED WAY OPENS NEW RESOURCE CENTER IN HARTFORD

United Way of Washington County is committed to providing solutions to community problems.  In response to the concern of a lack of local access to county-wide services that Hartford area community groups and residents expressed, United Way opened a new Resource Center in Hartford.   May 21st was the ribbon-cutting grand opening celebration of the new Center that included the Hartford Chamber of Commerce, Hartford business leaders and citizens, and United Way funded agencies and board members.

Located at 1121 E Sumner Street in Hartford directly across the street from the Aurora Medical Center on Hwy 60, the new United Way Resource Center connects area residents with information about, and referrals to, nonprofit organizations and Washington County Government program services.  Area residents in need can stop in or call the center and get connected to local organizations that can help.

The Resource Center will host various program services in Hartford that are conducted by nonprofit agencies as well as services by Washington County government.  Examples of programs that have already provided services in May since the Center opened include parenting classes by the Family Center, budget counseling by Consumer Credit Counseling Services and an activity day by Big Brothers Big Sisters.

“The Resource Center is a collection of offices and meeting spaces that can be used for no fee by not-for-profit organizations,” according to Cindi Limburg, Resource Center Director.  “Most nonprofit agencies are located in West Bend which can be a challenge for some Hartford area residents.  By having this facility available for anybody who needs it, those services on the eastern side of the county will now be available on the western side.”

The Resource Center provides space for The Aging and Disabilities Resource Center of Washington County for an onsite satellite office.  The Volunteer Center will also have staff onsite two days a week to connect individuals to volunteer opportunities at area nonprofit organizations.

“United Way looks forward to increasing its impact by better servicing residents in the Hartford area and throughout Washington County,” stated Kristin Brandner, United Way Executive Director.  “People who would like more information about United Way and the program services it helps support should visit our website at unitedwayofwashingtoncounty.org.”
