MOBILIZED HARTFORD ANNOUNCES UNITED WAY GRANT RECIPIENTS

As United Way of Washington County continues its focus on helping to address needs in Hartford, it made almost $10,000 in additional funds available to not-for-profit programs that provide services in the Hartford community.  These funds were awarded by Hartford business leaders who are members of the Mobilized Hartford Task Force.

Recipients that received the grant were programs that dealt with crisis situation and preventative education in the Hartford community. Grant Recipients were the following-

•    $3000 to the Family Center of Washington County for the program “Developing Nurturing Skills in Schools”
•    $3000 to The Youth and Family Project, Inc. for the “Crossroads Runaway Program”
•    $2000 to Casa Guadalupe for their Hispanic Childhood Adulthood Literacy Initiative
•    $1402 to Consumer Credit Counseling Services of West Bend for Budget and Financial Counseling

Bonnie Debroux, Executive Director of the Family Center of Washington County explains, “We are very excited to receive funds from the Mobilized Hartford Fund for our pilot program, Developing Nurturing Skills in Schools. The outcome of the program is to change the atmosphere of failure, disrespect and strict obedience into an environment of success, respect, and cooperation. The overall goal of the children’s lessons, the parenting lessons and the lessons to train teachers is to build a school atmosphere that promotes positive nurturing beliefs based on new knowledge and new behaviors”.

Part of the commitment made by United Way was to invest a portion of new dollars raised in the Hartford-area campaign directly back into that community.  The almost $10,000 in additional funding being made available is a 50% return-back-to-Hartford of new dollars raised during the 2012 campaign

United Way will continue its commitment to return-back-to-Hartford a portion of new dollars raised during its 2013 campaign.
