KEVIN STEINER TO LEAD UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN IN WASHINGTON COUNTY

Kevin Steiner, president and CEO of West Bend Mutual Insurance Company, will serve as United Way of Washington County’s 2017 campaign chair.

This is not Steiner's first volunteer role with the organization. He served on their Board of Directors from 1997 to 2003, and as president in 1999.

“I like to work with winners. And United Way is a winning organization,” Steiner said. “They listen to what the community needs and they respond with comprehensive solutions. I believe in United Way because they collaborate and build smart partnerships that increase nonprofits’ efficiency and effectiveness.”

Last year, United Way of Washington County celebrated their 80th anniversary. They raised a record-breaking $1,449,502 and mobilized 19 community partners to help more than 14,000 individuals and families.

Steiner is looking to build on the organization’s positive momentum to help even more people in Washington County. As Campaign Chair, he plans to increase participation and establish an emerging leaders group.

“Washington County is a really special place to live and work, and I feel that I have a responsibility to make it better,” Steiner said. “Community is more than just a group of people living in one area. It’s people working collaboratively to address complex issues. It’s coming together to improve people’s lives. And that’s what people in Washington County do; this is Community with a capitol ‘C.’”

“Kevin is an incredible leader and he’s truly passionate about helping others,” said Kristin Brandner, executive director of United Way of Washington County. “We’re honored to have his support. The associates at West Bend Mutual Insurance  are some of our top supporters, year after year, and a large part of that is because Kevin has fostered a culture that encourages giving back.”

In addition to his former service on United Way’s Board of Directors, Steiner is an active leader in numerous nonprofit and charitable organizations, including the Kettle Moraine YMCA, the MACC Fund, the United Performing Arts Fund, and Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin.

The 2017 United Way campaign begins this fall. Community volunteers distribute the funds raised to support local programs that measurably improve residents’ education, financial stability, and health. United Way of Washington County currently supports 24 programs that are delivered by nonprofit partners and coalitions.
